2015年五本好書

日前，弟弟寫了2015年五本好書，趁年終之前我也寫一下吧。感恩今年也有看書的時候，看過的有新買的書，有買了很久卻新看的書，也有看了不止一遍的舊書。有人問為何有時間看書，我想，就跟祈禱一樣道理。越忙碌越需要祈禱，讓目光放在主耶穌身上免得迷失方向；越忙碌越需要看書，讓心靈安靜並繼續擁有造就別人的內涵。在這裡推薦幾本比較新的書（除了最後的那本），而且大部份都是下半年讀的，有興趣的話你也看看吧。

《迎鋒而立》 劉進圖

這本書是剛過去的書展上買的，因為弟弟去不了所以他叫我買。如果沒有記錯，書展上可能只買了一本新書，就是這本。對於同樣在身體上經歷前所未有挑戰的我來說，這本書真的是及時雨。以下是兩段書中的節錄：

「上帝出重手，把你推離原來的生活軌跡，不一定為了有新的任務交給你，很可能就是為了讓你回家。在天父眼中，沒有任何事情比流浪在外的孩子回家更重。至於回家後該做甚麼或不做甚麼（指事奉），那倒是次要的，屬於基督徒的自由。」

「對於有信仰、有盼望的人，等候不是被動地甚麼事都不做，把人生的一切成敗得失，統統推給上帝或命運，而是積極地參與、創造、分享，等候上帝實現祂應許給我們的美善和愛。」

The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto - Mitch Albom

本來我也不知道Mitch Albom出了本新書，直到有學生跟我說。後來，書局只看到硬皮的，所以就叫弟弟從網上(又是book depository)訂了一本。我喜歡他的Tuesdays with Morrie和The Time Keeper，前者的舞台劇版本也看了三遍（其實是喜歡看舞台劇），不過他以往寫的書都是短短的，猜不到這一本不但面積闊了，書也出奇地厚（四百多頁）。近年看這類型小說已經很少能一口氣看完，總是看幾頁然後停一停，然後不知多少天後就不了了之。不過，我用了兩晚加上一個早上就看完了，因為真的好看。書裡有一些深刻的信息，不過不知怎的下面這句結他老師對主角的教訓於我來說最深刻：

‘The secret is not to make your music louder, but to make the world quieter.’

We are all completely beside ourselves - Karen Joy Fowler

這本書是在英國的一間書局買的。本來，不打算在那裡買書，因為旅行時其實沒有時間看書，所以拿著一本書在行李也不是很方便的事。不過，這本書的封面（黃色加黑色很搶眼），加上它能同時出現在暢銷榜和店員推薦兩欄上（看完介紹後才決定的），就使我把它買下了。坦白說，由於文字並不簡單，我花了不少時間去讀它，但未看完已經令人有種深刻的感覺。我覺得不完全是因為主角的爸爸是心理學教授（所以書中有不少心理學理論），而是因為當中的鋪陳很有心思。無論如何，書裡的這句也很有印象：

“In the phrase ‘human being’, the word ‘being’ is much more important than the word ‘human’.”

Blue like Jazz - Donald Miller

這本是關於信仰的書。雖然它是關於信仰，但它跟大部份其他我看過關於信仰的書都不同。這本書藉著另一個角度去叫人反思信仰是一回什麼事。當大部份屬靈書籍都在講道理時，它藉著很落地很真實的經歷談論甚麼是信仰和與耶穌的關係。我不能說我因此改變了很多，但對於信仰又有著更深的體會。以下是一些比較深刻的內容：

‘The most difficult lie I have ever contended with is this: life is a story about me… No drug is so powerful as the drug of self. No rut in the mind is so deep as the one that says I am the world, the world belongs to me, all people are characters in my play. There is no addiction so powerful as self-addiction.’

'I think loving Jesus is something you feel. I think it is something very difficult to get on paper. But it is no less real, no less meaningful, no less beautiful... Ask Him to become real to you. Ask Him to forgive you of self-addiction, ask Him to put a song in your heart. I can't think of anything better that could happen to you than this.'

Reaching Out: The Three Movements of the Spiritual Life - Henri Nouwen

這本書是我同事推介給我看的，不過我看完之後決定自己買一本收藏。而且，有趣的是，當我在看這本書時，教會一個弟兄對我說他剛收到牧師贈送的一本書，而那本就正正是這本書的中文版。這本書總共有三部分，而每一部分也有三課。要介紹這本書，不能用三言兩語說完，而且我相信在2016年我也會再看一次。這本書，談的是如何面對自己，如何面對其他人和如何面對上帝，它對於孤獨和與人相處的坦誠和空間的討論對我來說特別深刻。有機會我希望能更深入地討論一下，不過這裡就看幾句內容吧：

‘If some are still dominated by their former bad habits, and yet can teach by mere words, let them teach...for perhaps, being put to shame by their own words, they will eventually begin to practise what they teach.’

‘When we have no project to finish, no friend to visit, no book to read, no television to watch or no record to play, and when we are left all alone by ourselves we are brought so close to the revelation of our basic human aloneness and are so afraid of experiencing an all-pervasive sense of loneliness that we will do anything to get busy again and continue the game which makes us believe that everything is fine after all.’

‘Just as our adulthood shows the marks of the struggles of our youth, so our solitude bears the signs of lonely hours, our care for others reflects at times angry feelings and our prayer sometimes reveals the memory and presence of many illusions. Transformed in love, these painful signs become signs of hope, as the wounds of Jesus did for the doubting Thomas.’
